I'm not saying all answers should be paid. Only some.

And obviously some restrictions should be applied so it won't break the model, but it sure something needed -- this post was written from person frustration. I posted a question that I need answer to, but got no answers. And I prefer to pay someone with reputation on SO rather than some anonymous freelancer. And it has the benefit of sharing the knowledge with others.

Not sure if a paid answer feature would give more answers. People on stackoverflow (et co) are in there for the reputation. The fact that answers weren't paid in the past hasn't been a problem. In fact I think that paid answers would break the stackoverflow model.

The idea is that the answer is open to the public even if someone paid for it. This is another benefit over me just hiring a consultant - if I hire someone, the knowledge isn't shared with others. If I pay for answer, the knowledge is shared with everyone.
